Head Coach Ewing
Coach Ewing is thrilled to be a Lakewood Piranha! He grew up Richardson and is a proud graduate of Berkner High School. After Berkner he attended Stephen F. Austin University where he graduated with a degree in Composite Social Studies and a degree in Kinesiology.
Coach Ewing began coaching later in his career. For the last 25+ years he has taught various History classes, mostly US History. In 2013-14 he was awarded the Teacher of the Year for the State of Texas.
Among Coach Ewing’s coaching stops include Nacogdoches High School, Ambush Swim Club, Canyon Creek Country Club and is he currently the Head Coach at JJ Pearce in Richardson. Coach Ewing has won a District title every year he has been a coach and has sent a team to state every year but one. Coach Ewing’s swimmers have won several medals at state and his teams are consistently in the top 25 and often in the top ten. He has been named District Coach of the Year 11 times and Regional Coach of the Year (top eight coaches in Texas) one time.
Coach Ewing’s coaching style is high energy, super positive, fun and challenging! He also manages his family farms in Northern Missouri, raising corn, wheat, soybeans and cattle. Ewing is an avid disc golfer, loves to travel, enjoys trying new foods/wines and restaurants, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Missouri Tigers and spending time with family and friends.
Coach Ewing's greatest success has been marrying his 7th-grade crush, Michelle! Michelle and Eric were married in August 2019 in Budapest, Hungary. He has 2 amazing kids, Ryan (28), and Elizabeth (24).
